The Phuss drummer Trey Alfaro injured in hit-and-run

Posted 12:35pm on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014

As the Dallas Observer first reported yesterday, Trey Alfaro, drummer for Fort Worth trio The Phuss, was injured in a hit-and-run accident Friday in Dallas.

“My best friend and drummer Trey Alfaro, while on his bicycle, was a victim of a hit and run,” writes Phuss frontman Joshua Fleming. “Now in a situation no one saw coming he is suffering from road rash all over his body, a concussion, broken nose and missing four teeth, along with breaking the others of his signature smile, Trey is in a lot of pain.”

Fleming has set up an online fund to accept donations to help mitigate Alfaro’s medical expenses.

As the DO notes, the Phuss is gearing up to release its new album, On the Prowl, next month, but Fleming tells the Observer plans are obviously in flux at the moment.

“We’re supposed to be at a show on [August] 22 at City Tavern, which we had to cancel," Fleming told Observer music editor Jeff Gage Sunday. “We haven’t canceled [another show] on the 29th yet because Trey is a stubborn a--hole and says he wants to play, but even then I'm not sure he’ll be ready.”
