R.I.P. Justin Elliott

Posted 2:15pm on Monday, Aug. 04, 2014

Local musician Justin Wade Elliott died July 29.

He was 29.

The Tarrant County medical examiner cites Elliott’s cause of death as “low voltage electrocution.”

Elliott, an Arlington native and 2004 graduate of Martin High School, performed with, among others, the Josh Weathers Band, and as evidenced by his Facebook page, was a beloved member of the North Texas music community.

According to his Star-Telegram obituary, Elliott began playing guitar at the age of 10, and was also an avid antiques collector, having amassed “an extensive collection.”

A visitation will be held at 5 p.m. tonight at Moore & Sons Funeral Chapel, 4216 S. Bowen Rd. in Arlington, during which the family plans to serve a meal and encourages Elliott’s friends to “bring stories,” followed by a private family burial on Tuesday.

A “celebration of life,” open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Christian Church, 6450 Texas 360 in Grand Prairie.

According to his obituary, Elliott is survived by his parents, Donnie and Cindy Elliott; his brother, his nephews, his maternal grandmother, his aunts, an uncle and several cousins.
