Cristiano Ronaldo coming to Dallas on July 29

Posted 11:56pm on Wednesday, Jul. 23, 2014

Hardcore and fringe soccer fans alike who are still in the process of coming down form the emotional high of the FIFA World Cup can rejoice because Real Madrid will be taking on AS Roma on July 29 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The game is DFW's stop in the Guinness International Champions Cup tournament that features eight of the world's best clubs playing in 12 round-robin contests across North America.

Real Madrid is not just running out their "B" team, they are bringing their stars including Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas, Luka Modric and the man considered by many to be the greatest player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo. All four players are returning to the European champions following their participation in the World Cup.

Ronaldo, who recently won the FIFA Ballon D'or that is annually given to the top player in the world, is also one of the more popular athletes in the world, as evidenced by his 92.4 million Facebook fans and 28.5 million Twitter followers. After scoring 69 goals in 59 games in 2013, Real Madrid gave him a record five-year contract worth $200 million.

Real Madrid is guaranteed three games in the tournament, meaning DFW got the luck of the draw by being the site for this game, the second of the three they will be in playing in unless they advance to the final that will be played at Sun Life Stadium in Miami on August 4.

While Real Madrid's game against Manchester United at Michigan Stadium is already sold out and set to break a United States attendance record for soccer, there are still tickets available for the game in Dallas on Tuesday night. Tickets ranging from $59-$108 are available by visiting here.
