Smoothie King opens in Fort Worth’s Near Southside

Posted 4:36pm on Wednesday, Jul. 09, 2014

The opening of a new Smoothie King might not seem that special, especially when it’s on Fort Worth’s Near Southside, where a number of independent, locally owned restaurants have opened during the past few years.

Most of them have been on Magnolia Avenue, but the new Smoothie King is on Rosedale St., which looks to be undergoing a revitalization, with this location only a few blocks from Melt Ice Creams, which has been creating lots of buzz since it opened in April. And Smoothie King is giving back.

The new Smoothie King is already open, but on Friday, it will have a grand opening party, with 50 percent of the sales benefiting Fort Worth South Inc., the nonprofit economic development group working to revitalize the Near Southside. The proceeds will support Friday on the Green, the organization’s monthly concert series. The party will feature $5 medium smoothies, giveaways and product samples.

Smoothie King in Near Southside will be open 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. The new location is at 614 W. Rosedale St.
