The 4th of July is this weekend, time to fire up the grill and fix up some burgers, hot dogs and BBQ chicken, the big three of the backyard grill. I have pulled together some of my favorite recipes for the big three, along with fries and a grilled peaches recipe for dessert.

One thing I have learned from our DFW.com Burger Battle is that burgers are very popular in these parts. So after being a judge and eating my share of over 100 burgers for the contest, I came up with this recipe as kind of a culmination of what I liked and wanted in a burger… including more bacon! Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Try spiral-cutting your hot dogs for a perfectly straight dog that fills the bun, more surface area so you have more grill flavor, and once in the bun the spiral cut leaves lots of slots for relish and other toppings. Check out how here.
