Instagram contest: America the Beautiful in DFW

Posted 2:11pm on Wednesday, Jun. 25, 2014

Hey all you Instagrammers. We want to know what “America the Beautiful” looks like to you. It could be a rusty pickup truck, an apple pie, a flag viewed at a cool perspective, or a beat-up old barbecue smoker.

Enter your best “America the Beautiful” smartphone shots in our Instagram contest. The winner will win a four-pack of tickets to see Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in the Stockyards. The winning photo may also appear online and in next week’s DFW.com print edition.

Here’s how to enter to win:

1. Get out your smartphone and follow us on Instagram; our handle is dfw_com. IMPORTANT: You’ve got to be following us to be eligible to win.

2. Take your best America the Beautiful photos around Dallas-Fort Worth. It could be any of those things we named above. It could be a pair of flip-flops and a bottle of Shiner. It could be your Uncle Fred dressed up in his Tommy Hilfiger finery. Pretty, scenic, funny, poignant — anything that says “America the Beautiful” to you.

3. Once you’ve taken your ultimate America photo, we need you to tag it so we can find it: use #DFWgram as your tag.

What you win: A four-pack of general admission tickets to Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic, a day-long concert on the North Forty, just behind Billy Bob’s Texas.

Important: You must live in the DFW area to be eligible to win. Winner must be able to pick up the tickets at the Star-Telegram’s downtown offices (808 Throckmorton, Fort Worth) before 5 p.m. Thursday, July 3. McClatchy employees and their families are not eligible to win.
