Weekend Chef: Father's Day recipes

Posted 8:35am on Saturday, Jun. 14, 2014

Father's Day is coming up, so I thought it would be nice to share a few recipes that a dad would like. I know everybody is thinking steaks, but I decided to be a little different and picked some recipes with manly stuff like bacon, cheese, jalapenos and chili! I am also including a bacon pecan cookie recipe for the bakers out there. If you really want to fix steak, I am also including my cowboy steak recipe.

First up, my bacon-wrapped meatloaf stuffed with cheese. This has Dad written all over it: meatloaf stuffed with cheese all wrapped up in bacon to keep it juicy and moist. Check out the recipe here along with step-by-step pictures on how to do a bacon weave.

Next up is Texas chili! Nothing is manlier than that for a Texas dad, and it is also the official dish of Texas. Check out the recipe and chili tips here.

Now here is a dish that the kids can help make for dad, a bacon and jalapeno grilled-cheese sandwich. Perfect for the dad that really does not want anything too fancy for Father’s Day. Check out the recipe here.

Baked goods are always a good choice for dad, but you know what is even better? Baked goods baked with bacon in them. So here is my savory grilled bacon pecan cookies recipe for dear old dad.

But what about a steak? Have no fear, here is my most manly steak recipe, a coffee crusted cowboy steak. We are talking a 2-pound bone-in rib eye crusted in coffee and chili powder; it does not get more manly than that! Check out the recipe here.

Happy Father’s Day!
