WFAA/Channel 8 has won two 2014 National Edward R. Murrow Awards. The awards, presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association, honor excellence in electronic broadcasting.
WFAA won Best Newscast in the Large Market Television Category for its May 15, 2013 coverage of the tornado outbreak that struck Granbury, Cleburne and Ennis. John McCaa and Gloria Campos anchored the team coverage.

The station also won Best News Series/Large Market for “Ending Domestic Violence,” a monthong series of reports on domestic abuse that followed the slaying of Deanna Cook by her ex-husband and the slow response of Dallas 911 operators to Cook’s repeated calls. The Star-Telegram and WFAA have a content partnership, announced in March 2014, well after both of WFAA’s award-winning entries were produced.
