Weekend anchor Shon Gables exits WFAA

Posted 3:19pm on Friday, Jun. 06, 2014

Lots of departures in the local-anchor scene these days in DFW TV. Earlier this week, we told you about the exits of KXAS/Channel 5’s Lindsay Wilcox and KDAF/Channel 33’s Nerissa Knight, both of whom left their stations by choice.

Now, local blogger Ed Bark (who was first with the Knight news) reports on his Uncle Barky’s Bites site that weekend-morning anchor Shon Gables is out at WFAA/Channel 8. Gables also did some reporting during the week.

WFAA news director Carolyn Mungo declined to comment on Gables’ departure other than to confirm that she’s gone.

Reached via Facebook email, Gables gave DFW.com this statement:

“I was given a tremendous opportunity to work in Dallas-Fort Worth. I wish I would have been given the chance to say goodbye, but hopefully you will share with all of North Texas -- ‘Thank you’. One thing I have learned in my personal and professional journey is to always remain thankful. This is not the end ... it is a new chapter. WFAA was a blessing and I will miss some awesome people there.”

WFAA and DFW.com parent the Fort Worth Star-Telegram formed a content partnership in March 2014.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
