North Texas’ first full-time cidery is now open

Posted 8:58am on Saturday, May. 31, 2014

Eater has reported that Bishop Cider Co., the region’s first hard-cider bar, is now in open in Oak Cliff’s Bishop Arts District. While the bar is still preparing its own brew -- it won’t be ready for a few weeks yet -- there are other brands on hand including Strongbow on draft as well as Ace, Tieton Cider Works, Bonny Doon, Crispin, and Angry Orchard.

As we first wrote back in January, Bishop is the brainchild of Joel Malone, 26, and was supposed to throw open its doors in February. But opening now, with the summer season upon us, may actually work out to his benefit. Who wanted to drink cider when it was 35 degrees outside?

This is just the latest in a recent string of openings in Bishop Arts including the restaurants Stock & Barrel and Cretia’s. Bishop Cider Co. is located at 509 N. Bishop, right near Lockhart’s. Brisket and cider anyone?
