Kent & Co. Wines to open June 6 on Magnolia Avenue

Posted 2:12pm on Wednesday, Jun. 04, 2014

Magnolia Avenue, one of Fort Worth’s busiest restaurant rows, is about to get its second wine bar. This one comes with a little bit of a corkscrew twist.

Kent & Co. Wines, from Frank Kent Motor Co. owners Will Churchill and Corrie Watson, will be an upscale wine bar, specialty retail shop and automotive drop-off service center.

The bar, at 1101 W. Magnolia Ave., will have a grand opening beginning at 5 p.m. June 6. Nashville artist Matt Wertz will perform in a free concert beginning at 8:30.

According to a release, the wine bar will blend “Will and Corrie’s love for fine automobiles and vino for a truly unique experience — one that has yet to be seen anywhere in the U.S.” The space will showcase a rotating collection of Frank Kent Motor’s new and classic cars, “similar to an art installation,” the release says.

The space, designed by Jonas Baker architects, will also feature a 1,500-bottle wine cellar and a limited number of private lockers available for rent to store customers’ purchases. The bar will have eight wines on tap as well as eight beers, including taps for such local breweries as Rahr & Sons and Revolver Brewing. It will also offer more than 200 wines by the glass and/or bottle.

Kent & Co. Wines will offer a number of appetizers, snacks and food from such (mostly) nearby establishments as Magnolia Cheese Company, Stir Crazy Baked Goods, Melt Ice Creams, Vending Nut Company and Twin Creeks Cafe. Twin Creeks is the restaurant inside the relatively new Frank Kent complex off of Loop 820 in far west Fort Worth, so the Frank Kent people aren’t strangers to the concept of serving food with cars nearby.

Nonalcoholic mocktails will be available, including root beer floats, hibiscus tea and lemonade. Water bowls for dogs will be placed on a large patio.

The new wine bar is opening a short walk from another wine bar, Grand Cru Wine Bar & Boutique, which opened in February at 1257 W. Magnolia Ave. and also offers craft beers and a small-plates menu.

Vehicle drop-off service will start July 1, by appointment only; customers can schedule online at www.frankkent.com.
