Edgefest 24 at Toyota Stadium
Locate your sunscreen, find your favorite sunglasses and remember to hydrate well — festival season is fully upon us. The 2014 edition of Edgefest, which features 16 bands split between two stages at Frisco’s Toyota Stadium (the home of the 102.1 FM “The Edge”-sponsored shindig for the last several years), is loaded with some promising names (Bastille; Kongos; J. Roddy Walston and the Business) as well as some proven favorites, namely Chvrches (performing what seems like its umpteenth DFW show in the last 18 months) and the day’s headliner, Beck, touring behind his critically acclaimed new LP, Morning Phase.
1 p.m. Saturday. Toyota Stadium, Frisco. $19.50-$67.50.
Thievery Corporation at House of Blues
Those accustomed to the sublimely relaxed electronica of Washington, D.C., duo Rob Garza and Eric Hilton might be momentarily thrown by their latest record, Saudade, their first new music in three years. It’s littered with bossa nova-inspired tunes — the seductive opener, Décollage, would surely have made the late Antonio Carlos Jobim’s head nod appreciatively — and creates a less austere, more humid mood than often found on Thievery Corporation’s previous outings.
8 p.m. Wednesday. House of Blues, Dallas. $35-$55.
