Adopt me! Meet Athena

Posted 11:15am on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014

ID No. 22059902

Female, Doberman pinscher, 3 years old, 55 pounds

Staffers say Athena is an “awesome” Dobie who arrived at the Humane Society of North Texas after being rescued from a very sad situation. When rescued, she was under 40 pounds and had already had several litters while living strictly outside. Despite her hardships, staffers say Athena is very playful and loving. Her rescuers told the HSNT she was house-trained (she can stay in a crate if needed but prefers not having to be in a crate). The rescuers also recommend that she go to a home where she can find love, patience and exercise, as she is very active. Athena got along with her foster sister (another Dobie), but they did play rough together, so meet-and-greets with any potential adopters’ pets are encouraged. Athena needs to be an indoors-only dog in a home with a 6-foot privacy fence. Her previous caretakers also told the HSNT that she loves kids and playing with them so would love to go to a home with children to play with her. Athena is spayed, heartworm-negative, microchipped and current on shots. Please meet Athena at HSNT’s main location on East Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth.

The Humane Society of North Texas (1840 E. Lancaster Ave. and 6708 S. Hulen St., Fort Worth, and 363 Keller Parkway, Keller) is open for adoptions seven days a week. For hours and adoption information, call 817-332-4768 or visit www.hsnt.org, where you can also view adoptable animals.
