Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic returning to Fort Worth Stockyards

Posted 10:39am on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014

Willie Nelson is bringing his annual Fourth of July party back to Fort Worth.

As he has for the last several years, Nelson will round up enough pals to put on a day-long concert on the North Forty, just behind Billy Bob’s Texas, on July 4.

There will be two stages, as well as a VIP tent and skybox for guests to use as a cooling off point.

"We are thrilled to play a part in the 41-year history of the picnic and do it in the Fort Worth Stockyards,” said Concho Minick, president of Billy Bob’s Texas, in a statement. “The artist lineup and festival environment this year will be the best in picnic history — when you see it you will agree.”

Apart from Nelson, no other artists have yet been announced (that’s coming at 11:30 a.m.; subsequent line-up announcements are due Feb. 24 and April 14). “Early bird” tickets for $20 (before any headliners are announced) will be on sale from Friday through Feb. 23. The public on-sale date, when tickets will be available all the way up to $250, is Feb. 28. (Billy Bob's Texas marketing director Chris Spinks clarified this afternoon that Nelson was the first "artist announcement," and the next two line-up announcements will include more acts.)

Tickets can be purchased via Billy Bob’s Texas, the Willie’s Picnic site or by calling 817-624-7117.
