In our January profile of DFW father-son restaurateurs Shannon and Sam Wynne, Shannon Wynne said that his next project would be a Dallas location of Rodeo Goat Ice House, the Fort Worth West 7th burger/bar hotspot that won DFW.com’s 2013 Battle of the Burgers.
According to D Magazine’s Side Dish, that Dallas location is a step closer to coming to fruition: The blog reports that Rodeo Goat has signed a lease in the Dallas Design District, already home to Wynne’s Meddlesome Moth (the older cousin to Wynne’s new Bird Cafe in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square Plaza). The second Goat will open on Market Center Boulevard, a block away from the Moth.
The original Goat is owned by Shannon and Sam Wynne and Shannon’s longtime business partner, Keith Schlabs. It’s not clear how much Sam Wynne will be involved in the Dallas Goat, because he is working on launching his Dallas brewpub BrainDead Brewing, which he hopes to open sometime this year.
Shannon Wynne told Side Dish that he hopes to have the new Goat opened by summer, and to bring Fort Worth Rodeo Goat chef Keith Grober to the Dallas Goat. But we expect the Fort Worth Goat to keep hoppin’ with its ambitious approach to burgers and its eightysomething brews.
