Preston’s picks: Disclosure at House of Blues; George Winston at Cendera Center

Posted 9:51am on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014

Disclosure at House of Blues

One of the biggest electronic acts to roar out of Britain in a decade, Disclosure (brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence) has accomplished a great deal in its four years of existence. The pair racked up not only critical acclaim for its 2013 debut album, Settle, but also nabbed a Grammy nomination for best dance/electronica album earlier this year. The record, loaded with stylish dance-pop, also features a fistful of buzzy guest stars — Sam Smith, London Grammar, Jessie Ware and Aluna George all contribute to various tracks. With Vic Mensa and Samo Sound Boy.

9 p.m. Saturday. House of Blues, Dallas. $25-$30.

George Winston at Cendera Center

Pianist George Winston has been steadily recording and performing since the mid-1970s, and shows no signs of slowing down. Performing in the round, Winston will showcase, according to press materials, “selections from [his] melodic piano recordings, as well as R&B piano, stride piano [and] Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts pieces,” as well as a few tunes highlighting Hawaiian slack key guitar. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable donation for the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

8 p.m. Thursday. Cendera Center, Fort Worth. $27.50-$40.
