Fox 4 adds Joangel Concepcion to reporting staff

Posted 5:25pm on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014

Joangel Concepcion is the latest addition to the KDFW/Channel 4 news team.

Concepcion, who comes to the station after two years at WHEC in Rochester, N.Y., will contribute to various Fox 4 newscasts beginning Feb. 17, according to a press release.

According to her WHEC bio, where she’s listed as a reporter/photographer, Concepcion reported from Newtown, Conn., in the days following the Sandy Hook elementary school shootings, and shared an Edward R. Murrow award for Best Breaking News coverage as part of a team reporting on the ambush of two firefighters who were shot and killed while responding to a fire.

Concepcion isn’t new to Texas -- she worked in the Rio Grande Valley at McAllen’s KVEO, where she reported on border and Latino issues. She got her start as an intern in Philadelphia, and has a broadcast journalism degree from Temple University.

Concepcion’s family is from the Dominican Republic, and she was raised in Miami, according to her WHEC bio. Here’s a sample of her work.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
