Josh Abbott Band at Billy Bob’s Texas
The number of musicians capable of headlining back-to-back nights at the World’s Largest Honky Tonk is decidedly low, but with this weekend’s two-night stand in the Stockyards, the Josh Abbott Band joins those elite ranks. The Lubbock-based sextet, touring behind its latest LP, Small Town Family Dream, has also launched something rare in the world of Texas country music: an advocacy website called She Will Be Free, which the band says is “dedicated to serious issues affecting the women in our lives and the lives of our fans.”
10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Billy Bob’s Texas, Fort Worth. $15-$25.
Cate Le Bon at Three Links
Welsh songstress Cate Le Bon calls California home these days, having relocated to the States in early 2013 to work on what would become her third album, last year’s Mug Museum. The relocation to America’s sunny Left Coast is evident in the sparkling melodies threading through the record (dig the chiming hook of record opener I Can’t Help You), which provide a sweet counterpoint to Le Bon’s smoky, entrancing vocals. With Kevin Morby, Bethan and Bryce Gilbertson.
8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Three Links, Dallas. $7-$10.
