Even if youre the kind of person (ahem) who wishes that the Christmas stuff would at least wait till after Thanksgiving, its hard to resist when Pentatonix, the a cappella group founded by Arlington Martin grads Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying and Kirstie Maldonado, turns its voices toward Christmas carols.
The group is currently touring Europe, but found time to post a new video of Little Drummer Boy on YouTube on Monday, and its already at more than 2 million views. The song, from PTXmas Deluxe (an extended version of last years PTXmas), features all five singers taking at least one turn at lead vocal -- including Kevin Olusola and Avi Kaplan, whom were more used to seeing handling rhythm.
Of course, Kaplan and Olusola still do the rhythm parts, and theyre impressive -- especially Olusola, who provides a lot of the drums for this Drummer Boy. And the whole group takes the song on a sweet, slow burn that builds to a strong climax.
