Posted 6:56pm on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013

Voting in Round 2 of our Craft Beer battle is now open, so click here to make your picks, and check out which brews advanced.

Breaking down the Round 1 results, judges’ picks and readers’ picks differed – but only in a handful of battles.

Tastebuds aligned in most matchups in the Hops region, with Peticolas Velvet Hammer, Rahr Stormcloud and Lakewood Hop Trapp advancing to Round 2; the one matchup where results differed was when it came to Revolver High Brass vs. Deep Ellum IPA; the readers favored their Deep Ellum IPA over the High Brass – but only by a mere 8 votes.

In the Easy Drinking region, readers and judges disagreed on the winner of the Rahr Blonde vs. Community Public Ale; readers gave Rahr the easy win. Otherwise, Martin House Day Break, Lakewood Rock Ryder and Peticolas Golden Opportunity advanced to Round 2.

As for Dark & Malty, we synced up in every matchup, sending to Round 2 Lakewood Temptress, Martin House There Will Be Stout, Rahr Ugly Pug, and Four Corners Block Party Porter – which eked out a win over Armadillo Quakertown Stout with a razor-thin 1-point margin.

In the Specialty region, we all favored Blood & Honey from Revolver, Community Trinity Tripel, and Martin House River House, which beat Deep Ellum Farmhouse Wit by a mere 11 votes. Readers and judges parted ways on the Armadillo Greenbelt Farmhouse vs. Community Inspiration matchup. Readers went with Community.
