Texas Star Dancers Calendar Release Party set for Nov. 21

Posted 5:08pm on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013

The Texas Star Dancers are unveiling their inaugural calendar at a big release party from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the Hurricane Grill & Wings in Mesquite. The event is a meet and greet with the entire team where fans will have their first opportunity to purchase the calendar and have it signed by all 10 ladies.

The Texas Star Dancers team is the brainchild of former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Crystal Weir (four years) and Cheryl Andrews (three years) who started the team with the goal of helping others who dream of wearing the iconic boots and world famous uniform of America's Sweethearts. They held an audition in August of ladies who made it through multiple rounds of pro teams auditions and want to continue in hopes of making one of the teams next season. The process consisted of a freestyle and choreography round just as ladies encounter at the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and Dallas Mavericks Dancers tryouts and once they had selected their inaugural squad, they began practicing weekly and shot the team photo and calendar.

The ladies recently had their first performance at the Town East Santa Parade followed by a nursing home visit in Rockwall. Upcoming events include an appearance at Six Flags Holiday in the Park on Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. featuring a 20-minute show full of singing and dancing and Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Dallas Convention Center for Operation Care. They also make appearances at the Hurricane Grill twice a month.

"We are hopeful that we are heading down the right path to making some girls' dreams come true," Weir said. "I have such a heart for dance and love feeling like I can make a difference in just one person. I tell the girls already that I'll be so happy if they make it on a professional team, but will be sad at the same time because it means I will no longer have them."

The ladies that comprise this year's team are Ashley, Britt, Brooklyn, Caila, Cristen, Donna, Emily, Jennifer, Mallory and Shelby. For further information on the Texas Star Dancers performances, booking them for an appearance or prep classes, visit here.
