Downtown Fort Worth Starbucks to close for move to Sundance Plaza

Posted 11:28am on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013

Java junkies, listen up!

The Starbucks in downtown Fort Worth is prepping for its move from Houston Street to the new Sundance Plaza this weekend. The store will be closed starting Saturday at 2 p.m. and will re-open on Tuesday at 6 a.m. in its new location at 201 Main Street in Sundance Plaza.

As a soft opening for the new store (and perhaps an attempt to appease those who had to go more than 24 hours without a nearby Starbucks), a Starbucks Friends and Family night is scheduled for Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sundance Plaza location.

"We’ll have free drinks, free holiday beverages and free food. It’s a celebration for our staff and all our customers," Jennifer Girard, manager of the downtown Starbucks, said.

Along with new digs, the Sundance Plaza location will be the only Fort Worth Starbucks equipped with a Clover Brewing System, Girard said. According to Starbucks, the system uses Vacuum-Press technology and digitally-set brew times and temperatures to make a cup o’ Joe with a “deeper experience.” Special reserve coffees will be on sale once the new store is open, too.
