Hot Issue Profile: Whitney Drolen

Posted 12:57pm on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013

The 2013 DFW.com Hot Issue made its debut at the end of August and while the month of September felt like an extension of summer, October has actually began to cool things off and bring some rain. With the time change approaching and winter inevitably around the corner, we opted to revisit this year's Hot Issue with some individual profiles of some of our favorite models. Perhaps you recognize Whitney Drolen as the traffic anchor for CBS 11 News This Morning, weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., but you undoubtedly know her from this year's Hot Issue photo shoot.

Whitney Drolen

Day job: Traffic and news anchor on KTVT/Channel 11.

Dream job: Professional concertgoer (is that a job?).

You may recognize her from: The popular “Rollin with Drolen” coffee mugs and billboards.

Interesting fact about her: I paid my way through college by winning my tuition on the game show Hollywood Squares.

What’s the worst way for a guy to approach you? By trying to impress me with material things.

Fantasy person to date: Bradley Cooper or Luke Bryan.

What’s your perfect night out? Dinner and great seats at a great concert.

Favorite TV show: 60 Minutes.

Favorite movie that made you laugh: Anchorman.

Favorite movie that made you cry: Life Is Beautiful.

Ideal spot for a summer vacation? Anywhere that includes water, a boat, and seafood

Favorite guilty-pleasure food: Anything on the menu at Mi Cocina.

Favorite place in DFW to hang out: I recently discovered a restaurant that I love called HG on Greenville Avenue in Dallas. [Much of] the food is local and organic, and they have an amazing rooftop patio with a great view of downtown.

What’s in your purse right now that no one would believe? My camera. When my friends pull out their phones to take a picture, I usually insist we use my camera instead. They always give me a hard time, until they see how much better the picture looks.

Favorite summer cocktail: It’s a toss-up between a Moscow Mule, and Don Julio 1942 on the rocks with a squeeze of lime.

Where might we see you on a summer afternoon in DFW? A Rangers game, on the Katy Trail or on a patio.

What are you looking forward to this fall when it cools off? That’s a no-brainer — football season!

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
