Sew me a good time

The Original Sewing & Quilt Expo comes to Will Rogers Memorial Center on Thursday, Oct. 17. A family-friendly event, the expo will feature demonstrations, trunk shows, fashion shows and classes. The event is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 18, and 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Tickets can be purchased online for $8 or $10 at the door. Season opener

Symphony Arlington opens its 2013-2014 season, Shall We Dance?, on Thursday, Oct. 17. Taking place at the Arlington Music Hall, the concert will feature Howard Hilliard performing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 1 in D Major. The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $16.50-$46.50, and can be purchased online, by phone or at the Symphony Arlington office. 224 N.
