A taste of Spain

The Central Market Cooking School in Fort Worth invites you out Monday, Oct. 14, for a Spanish olive oil tasting and tapas class. Led by Central Market staffer Alphonso Fernandez, the class will guide attendees through a tasting of various Spanish olive oils, then introduce them to four tapas recipes that feature the oils. The class, intended for ages 18 and up, is 6:30-8 p.m. and costs $35 per person. The store is at 4651 West Freeway, Fort Worth, 817-377-9005; www.centralmarket.com.

Season opener

Schola Cantorum of Texas celebrates the opening of its 2013-2014 season with a concert Monday, Oct. 14, titled “How the West Was Once.” Taking place at Arborlawn United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, the choral performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20, $18 senior citizens/teachers and $5 students. Middle school students and younger can get in free. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone or at the door. The church is at 5001 Briarhaven Road, Fort Worth, 817-485-2500. www.scholatexas.com.
