Leigh Ann Adam, the current afternoon DJ, will move to the 10 a.m.-3 p.m. shift. Jonathan Doll, who has been filling in middays since Tony Zazza moved to the morning show, will remain with the station on a part-time basis.
Beale -- er, Kory -- comes to the CBS Radio-owned station from corporate sibling WDOK in Cleveland, the city where he was worked since 2010. On his social-media bios, he also lists himself as a theater critic, free-lance photographer and TV host for Prime Wrestling. He has also worked for stations in Orlando, Boston, Miami, New Haven and Colorado Springs.
This is the latest move in a busy year for KVIL, which kicked off 2013 by dropping the longtime ‘Gene and Julie’ morning show in January. Zazza moved to mornings, and in April he was teamed with Julie Fisk for new morning show Zazza & Julie. The station also dropped its “Lite FM” brand in favor of “Best Variety ... 90s, 2K & today,” opting for a slightly more energetic version of its adult-contemporary format.
If tradition holds, Kory will arrive just in time for KVIL to switch to its Christmas-music format, which usually happens in mid-November , giving the station a big ratings boost for a couple of months. Follow him on Twitter: @KoryOnTheRadio. He’s also on Facebook.
