Mavstoberfest set for Oct. 4

Posted 7:15am on Saturday, Sep. 21, 2013

With the Texas Rangers season coming down the stretch, the Dallas Cowboys campaign entering its third week and the Dallas Stars fresh off training camp in downtown Fort Worth, it only makes sense that the Dallas Mavericks annual fan fest known as Mavstoberfest must be right around the corner.

Mavstoberfest 2013 is an all-day event that will take place Oct. 4 American Airlines Center. The event is free and open to the public with the action getting under way at 9 a.m. with the Select-A-Seat event that allows fans to walk around the arena and pick which seats and which ticket package they would like to purchase. There are full, half and mini plans available on all levels.

Every fan that purchases a plan will have the opportunity to take a shot from half court and those who make the shot will get $100 off their ticket plan. In addition, every fan that buys a half or full season plan will receive an autographed piece of the 2011 Mavs Championship Hardwood floor. There will be an exclusive autograph session from 5-6 p.m. on the Platinum level. The event is for autograph pass winners -- those who buy a ticket plan will also receive a pass to the session.

Doors to the AAC open at 4 p.m. with activities on the concourse including face-painting and appearances by the Mavs ManiAACs, Mavs Drumline and Dallas Mavericks Dancers. Saving the best for last, the highlight comes at 6:30 p.m. as all the Mavs players including Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter, Shawn Marion and Monta Ellis will take the court and hold a scrimmage.

The Mavs will open the regular season at home Oct. 30 against the Atlanta Hawks. Games of note include Jason Kidd and the Brooklyn Nets visiting Dallas on March 23, Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 5 and Jan. 7, and the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 3 and March 27. The NBA champion Miami Heat and LeBron James make their lone trip to DFW on Feb. 18.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
