The Botanical Research Institute of Texas will host a grand opening of “Kochi Makino: An Amazing Botanical Garden in Japan” on Saturday, Sept. 7. Those attending will get a first look at the exhibit, which features historical botanical illustrations and preserved plant specimens from the collections of the Makino Botanical Garden in Kochi, Japan. The event will include a variety of special activities such as a kimono fashion show, a traditional tea demonstration and Japanese dancers. Plan for prevention

North Richland Hills ATA Martial Arts will be hosting the Kidz ’n Power Bullying Prevention seminar Saturday, Sept. 7. Based on the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, it teaches youngsters what to do if they are a victim of bullying, what to do if bullying turns violent and how to help others who are being bullied.
