A few weeks back, DFW.com contributor David Martindale wrote about Sean Panikkar, the Fort Worth Opera tenor who’s a contestant on America’s Got Talent this season as part of a singing trio called Forte.
Forte has made it to the semifinal round of AGT, and Fort Worth Opera is throwing a watching party in support. The free party will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Movie Tavern at West 7th, 2872 Crockett St. in Fort Worth. Dinner and drinks will be available (that part isn’t free).
Panikkar performed as Rodolfo in the 2013 Fort Worth Opera Festival production of La Boheme and will play the leading role of Nadir in The Pearl Fishers at the 2014 festival. You can read his full bio at www.seanpanikkar.com.
Although the party will be free, seating is limited, and registration is required to attend. Visit http://www.fwopera.org/schedule/calendarfull.asp or call 877-396-7372 to RSVP.
Panikkar is not the only semifinalist with Fort Worth connections. Timber Brown, “a male pole dancer” who does acrobatic feats using two poles, lives in Las Vegas but is originally from Fort Worth.
America’s Got Talent airs at 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays on KXAS/Channel 5. Here’s a clip featuring Forte’s first performance on the show -- and very first performance together, period. Singing starts around the 2:45 mark.
