CBS Radio announced Friday that Spanish adult-contemporary station KMVK/107.5 FM “Mega” has become “La Grande 107.5 FM” and will play a regional-Mexican format. The change is already reflected on the station’s website.
Artists played on the station this afternoon include Julion Alvarez, Socios del Ritmo and Joan Sebastian. For a full playlist, go here.
Morning-show host Edgar “Shoboy” Sotelo remains with the station. KMVK won Spanish Station of the Year at the 2012 National Association of Broadcasters’ Marconi Awards, which were hosted by Sotelo, who was named Spanish Format Personality of the Year at the 2011 Marconis. Pelos Parados will take the 3-7 p.m. shift.
Sotelo is the brother of the nationally popular Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo, who was radio news himself this week when Univision abruptly canceled his Piolin por la Mañana show. In DFW, Piolin aired on KLNO/94.1 FM “La Que Buena,” which also airs a regional-Mexican format. KLNO was tied for No. 2 among DFW stations in the overall June Arbitron ratings, and is consistently the top-rated Spanish-language station in the market.
