Be a judge in the 2013 Burger Battle’s Final Four (Submissions now closed.)

Posted 11:18am on Thursday, Jul. 11, 2013

UPDATE: SUBMISSION PERIOD NOW CLOSED. We'll be reviewing out submissions and will notify our guest taster in the coming week.

Many, many people love burgers. This we know.

But to help us judge our Final Four, we are looking for someone whose dedication to burgers borders on mad genius. Do you dissect your burgers? Do you have knock-down drag-outs with friends over which DFW burger is better? During our first Burger Battle in 2009, we found Bryan Copeland. Nobody could question his devotion: his right arm is emblazoned with a hamburger tattoo. Our next competition, in 2011, led us to Megan Hall, who created spreadsheets to “score” all the burgers she and her friends tried.

See what we mean?

If you’ve got the stuff it takes, you could be joining us as a guest taster in our Final Four round of the 2013 Burger Battle. That means free burgers, and your name and photo in the paper (Nexium prescription not included).

So, here’s what to do: Tell us, in 150 words or less, what makes you DFW’s ultimate burger nut. You must have an open mind, a cast-iron stomach and be available the week of July 22, when we’ll be judging the Final Four.

Deadline for entries was 5 p.m. July 19.

P.S. Eligible guest testers may not be affiliated with any burger joint. You will be vetted. If we find that you do have such an association, in addition to having your entry rejected, as in years past, you will be reported to Mayor McCheese. It won’t be pretty.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
