105.3 The Fan to present “SausageFest”

Posted 8:17am on Thursday, Jul. 11, 2013

As if we didn’t have enough meat on our minds with the 2013 DFW.com Battle of the Burgers, sports station KRLD/105.3 FM “The Fan” has announced its inaugural SausageFest, which will take place Aug. 10 at the Main Street Garden in downtown Dallas.

“SausageFest will celebrate all things sausage, from andouille to wurst,” per the release, which also sounds a bit like the Bubba Gump of sausage in places: “Pork sausage, beef sausage, smoked sausage, boiled sausage ...” You get the idea.

Or part of the idea, because this will also include a weiner dog costume contest (no wonder these dogs so frequently have worried looks on their faces), a Miss SausageFest bikini contest, and sausage bobbing.

Scheduled participants include Hard Eight BBQ, The Brat Haus and the cleverly named Pirates of the Prime Ribbean.

Entertainment will be provided by local bands The Mullet Boyz, Seattle and A.Dd+, as well as DJ Moxie.

Doors open at 4 p.m.; the event ends at 10 p.m. You must be 21 years of age or older to attend. Admission is $12, with tickets on sale now at sausagefestdfw.com.

By the way, we’re not the only ones with burgers on our minds -- there’ll also be an inaugural Burgerfest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept 21 on Main Street in Dallas, next to the Deep Ellum Outdoor Market. Dallas CultureMap reports that it will be brought to you from the same people who were behind the North Texas Taco Festival back in the spring. Urp. Get the Burgerfest details here.

We now have a new, simpler way for you to enter and search for events, at listings.dfw.com. As always, when you submit an event to appear online, it will also be available for us in our print publication. But now you can simply enter your event and provide an email address, rather than creating a separate account and registering. Our new listings tool is still a work in progress, so we appreciate your patience as we fine-tune it. Please contact us at hsvokos@dfw.com if you have any questions or concerns.
