Watermelon Oreos: a taste test caught on Vine

Posted 6:04pm on Thursday, Jun. 20, 2013

We’ve seen the buzz floating around social media: Oreo combined one of summer’s favorite fruits with their near-perfect snack to make what sounds like one wacky cookie. It was the watermelon Oreo, the latest in the company’s “limited edition” flavors. (It comes on the heels of the dubiously spelled Rainbow Shure, Bert! Oreo from April.)

But here’s the thing: could the watermelon Oreo actually be good? We decided to buy a pack to see.

Traipsing around the newsroom with a brightly-colored pack of Oreos and an iPhone, I filmed (Vined?) staffers’ reaction to their first taste of the watermelon Oreo. Some of them were ready with preconceived notions that the cookie would suck. I was swayed, though, and have been chomping away at the leftovers.

See all of the reactions here.

If you’ve already tried them, tell us what you thought. If you haven’t, be sure to shoot a Vine (or maybe use the new Instagram video feature) of your first taste, then send it to @dfwdotcom and tag #oreotastetest.
