Brownstone to throw 'I Love the 80s' party

Posted 9:15pm on Wednesday, Jun. 19, 2013

The popular West 7th spot Brownstone is hosting its I Love the 80s party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, June 22.

The decade brought us such iconic TV shows as Magnum P.I., The Dukes of Hazzard, The Cosby Show, Dynasty, Miami Vice, Who's the Boss and Roseanne. Don't forget the endless list of classic movies such as Beverly Hills Cop, Wall Street, Sixteen Candles, Caddyshack, Fletch, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Any '80s movies mention must include Fast Times at Ridgemont High, not only for Sean Penn's legendary turn as Jeff Spicoli, but especially for the great Phoebe Cates. And just think where we would be today in 2013 without the '80s music from Michael Jackson and Madonna to Duran Duran and Van Halen to Rick Springfield and Bruce Springsteen.

Expect this bash to include plenty of references to things like leg warmers, Ms. Pac Man and the Rubik's Cube with '80s-inspired party favors and the staff dressed like they hopped in the DeLorean from the Back to the Future trilogy and traveled back to the decade of decadence. DJ Bobby Preston will be on hand spinning favorites from the '80s and today.
