Mike Castellucci, whose offbeat, curiosity-sating Why Guy features added a bit of levity to WFAA/Channel 8s newscasts a few years back, will return to the station in July as a Good Morning Texas co-host, the station announced today.
Castellucci will join current hosts Carrie McClure and Amy Vanderoef on the 10 a.m. news/talk/variety program; he will also appear on other station broadcasts. Since 2007, Castellucci has worked for San Diegos KUSI as a reporter on Good Morning San Diego. He also created a half-hour program called Open Mike -- shot and edited via Flip camera -- that won three Emmy Awards, according to this note on his website.
Heres a recent sample of his San Diego work:
Vanderoef has been a stable presence on Good Morning Texas since joining the show in 2006, but the show has gone through a number of co-hosts since then, with McClure signing on in April 2012.
GMT is also getting a new executive producer in Laura A. Martin, who comes to WFAA from Atlanta Fox station WAGA, where she was executive supervising producer of weekend morning and evening newscasts. Her background also includes stations in Detroit and Denver.
