Cinco de Mayo in DFW: 2013 edition

Posted 9:54pm on Thursday, May. 02, 2013

This is already a big weekend in DFW. There are big concerts ranging from Jimmy Buffet and Jackson Browne in Frisco to Clint Black and Joe Diffie up at Choctaw and The Band Perry in Fort Worth to Jewel in Grand Prairie. You have the Kentucky Derby festivities at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie as well as Mayfest in Fort Worth. T.I. will be making an appearance at ZOUK on Sunday night. Sports bars across the Metroplex will be packed with the Mayweather/Guerrero fight.

And, of course, Sunday is Cinco de Mayo, May 5th. Here is a sampling of some of the bigger parties and events in DFW:

The TRES DE MAYO PARTY at Ku De Ta is getting the party weekend off to an early start with a Friday night bash. The event is a combination of Ku De Ta, Three Sheets and Southern Comforts and features no cover charge. There is an exclusive Bungalow Bar VIP area complete with lounge seating, your own dedicated bar that is $50 and includes two drinks. Private poolside cabanas are available for $300. Further information available at TheTopRung.org.

MANTUS nightclub, just below Iron Cactus in downtown Dallas is the locale for the Cinco de Drinko at Casa de Mantus/Suite 1520 party. Bottle reservations are available by calling (214) 418-8328.

PRIMO'S BAR AND GRILLE in Uptown is making a weekend out of the big holiday with its party called "Cinco de Drinko." Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight will have a party tent with live music and Sunday's festivities run from noon to 4 p.m. with a live broadcast from 93.

The 23rd Annual DALLAS CINCO DE MAYO PARADE & FESTIVAL Dallas Cinco de Mayo Parade & Festival is Saturday May 4th in Oak Cliff. The parade is from 10 am to 2 pm and the festival begins at noon and runs to 8 pm.

RESERVOIR-BAR, PATIO & KITCHEN is the place for the "Cinco de Patio Weekend." Since Reservoir is the hottest spot in Fort Worth, it only makes sense that this will be one of the biggest party spots on a big party weekend. Specials include $7 frozen hornitos ritas, $5 hornitos tequila shots, $5 modello and Pacific schooners, $7 Patron shots and $4 Patron XO shots. Sounds will be provided by DJ Ryan Kelley, Traxx and DJ Mark McEuen.

MCFADDEN'S ADDISON is the spot for the "Cinco de Mustache 2-Day Cinco de Mayo Celebration." Wear a moustache or sombrero to get your first drink for $1 before 11 p.m. Specials include $3 Corona & $5 Margaritas. RSVP here for Saturday night's bash here and get $3 drinks for 3 hours.

THE POUR HOUSE on West 7th in Fort Worth is hosting a party featuring Latin Express on the main stage from 8 p.m. to midnight with DJ Cisco on the patio from 3-7 p.m. Specials include $3 Mexican beers, $4 El Jimador Rock margaritas and shots and $5.50 Beer-A-Ritas.

OJOS LOCOS SPORTS CANTINA has locations in Dallas (Technology Blvd. and Northwest Hwy) and Fort Worth in Sundance Square. This will be likely be one of the more popular spots as it is hosting a festival in honor of Cinco de Mayo from May 1-5th.

WEST END PUB in Dallas is hosting the "Cinco de Mayo on the Patio" featuring music by Jes Spires and Friends, patio bar specials featuring margaritas, shots and 'South of the Border Brews.' The patio bar will also be serving Tex-Mex food all day.

Everybody have a great Cinco de Mayo weekend!
