Ali Dee shines at the Capital Bar

Posted 10:30pm on Tuesday, Apr. 30, 2013

The 95.9 Ranch Music Series is in its 11th season of free concerts throughout the spring and summer on the the Backyard Stage at the Capital Bar in Fort Worth's vibrant West 7th corridor. The series runs March 27th through August 28th and includes many familiar names such as Cory Morrow, Deryl Dodd, Charlie Robison, Bart Crow and Reckless Kelly.

While this week's headliner was Brandon Rhyder, we came to see Ali Dee, one of the only independent female country artists in history to break into the TOP 15 on the iTunes Country Chart with the Sept 2012 release of her debut EP, Sweet Southern EP.

Ali Dee is a familiar face with DFW sports fans due to her role as the in-arena host during Dallas Mavericks games at American Airlines Center, FOX Sports’ national coverage of Championship Bull Riding and as the host of Mavs Insider on FOX Sports Southwest. Others recognize her from her two seasons on the Fort Worth-based CMT reality show Texas Women. She has also designed and developed a successful fashion line, the Ali Dee Collection, which appears in over 150 boutiques and western stores across the country, for “strong women who are proud of who they are and where they come from."

Ali took the stage shortly after 6 p.m. on what turned out to be one of the cooler afternoons in the recent DFW "Jekyll & Hyde" weather pattern, but the crowd continued to grow on the patio. She got the crowd going with a cover of Dwight Yoakam's Guitars, Cadillacs and as well as her last single Sweet Southern Song, which was featured in season two of Texas Women. Ali also interacted with the crowd in the intimate venue, mentioning that she had just returned form Europe where she had performed for our troops. Another highlight of the show was her performance of World Gone Crazy, a song she said she wrote about her boyfriend at the time who is currently in jail. Fans in attendance also were treated to her latest single It Ain't, which was just released to radio stations nationwide.

Ali Dee has several upcoming shows in DFW including Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Dallas on May 10, Grapevine Main Street Days on May 18 and May 28th at the upscale Whiskey & Rye at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. Her complete tour schedule is available here.
