Dirk shaved, and the world watched. The Dallas Mavericks made a pact in late January that they would grow out their facial hair until they reached a .500 record. And so they did, on Sunday in New Orleans, after beating the hapless Hornets. Nowitzki — who also scored a major milestone by passing 25,000 career points — might’ve run for the razor faster than anyone. “It’s been too long,” he said. “Even my wife stopped kissing me somewhere in February.” So maybe the Mavs missed the playoffs this year, but they’ll always have the beard tweets.

@TheFakeESPN Dirk Nowitzki shaved his beard, so... the Dirk Dynasty reality spinoff is dead.

@DwainPrice “Dirk looks awesome, slash terrible, at the same time.’’ -- #Mavs center Chris Kaman on Dirk Nowitzki’s shaved beard

@EKS_MavsNBA Dirk on what’s sweeter, fresh shave or 25K?: “I’m not sure. It’s a toss up.”

@COEDMagazine Dirk Nowitzki (@swish41) shaved what could have been one of the best NBA beards ever off of his face. We’re sad. http://goo.gl/52sKG

@Evan_P_Grant I, for one, will sleep better tonight knowing that the saga of Dirk’s beard is over.
