Speaking of outdoor, music-oriented events ... the Levitt Pavilion in downtown Arlington is gearing up for its fifth year of free music, which kicks off May 24 with Delta Rae.
The music continues on Memorial Day weekend, as the Levitt Pavilion plays host to the second annual Downtown Center Stage Music Festival, which will feature Telegraph Canyon and the Polyphonic Spree (May 25) and Ryan Hamilton and the Old 97's (May 26).
The Texas Power 2013 summer concert series stretches into July this year, featuring a mix of acts that have previously played the Levitt (such as Trout Fishing in America, Spoonfed Tribe, Sara Hickman and the Quebe Sisters Band) as well as a few new faces (such as Chip Taylor, Monte Montgomery and the Lightcrust Doughboys). Concerts through July 2 will start at 8 p.m.; the "Light Up Arlington!" concert, pegged to the Fourth of July, kicks off at 8:45 p.m. and every show after July 3 starts at 8:30 p.m.
For its annual benefit concert (the proceeds from which help pay for the other free shows throughout the year) on Sept. 14, the Levitt Pavilion has lined up Foreigner. It's the only show on the Levitt's schedule that requires a ticket -- $35 for the concert itself, or $150 for a VIP, pre-show dinner, reserved parking and reserved seating -- and those will go on sale May 24.
