The first hometown exhibit of Fort Worth native Georganne Deen opens Friday night at brand 10 art space. The show, "forever eve, by Georganne Deen," comes after years of international exposure in galleries across the U.S., Europe and as far away as New Zealand. The artist, who lives in Joshua Tree, Calif., bases it on an open letter to Eve, writing, "Ever since you took that bite and started thinking about what was wrong with the world, we haven't stopped thinking either. It's pretty much all we ever do, that and trying to figure out ways to make ourselves feel better and stop thinking so much."
What follows are images that tap glamour marketing, pulp illustrations and commercial graphics for a report on the depths and heights of consciousness, where we've gone wrong, and what's holding up progress.
A reception for the artist will be 5-9 p.m. Friday at the gallery.
Through May 25 at 3418 W. Seventh St., Fort Worth. 817-377-3636, www.brand10
