José Ralat-Maldonado, whose passion for tacos is evident in his The Taco Trail blog, sends word that the inaugural North Texas Taco Festival has announced its core (filling?) lineup.
The fest, co-produced by The Taco Trail, Entrée Dallas and the Deep Ellum Outdoor Market in collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas, will take place 11 a.m.-5 p.m. April 20 on the 2800 block of Main Street between Malcolm X Boulevard and Crowdus Street near the Deep Ellum Outdoor Market in Dallas.
Representing Fort Worth will be the excellent Revolver Taco Lounge and the Chile Pepper Grill food truck, which will join Dallas' El Tizoncito, Velvet Taco, Rusty Taco, Taco Party, Urban Taco and La Nueva Fresh & Hot Tortilleria.
The fest will also feature a Taco Throwdown, which doesn't involve smashing taco shells on the street, but is a cookoff featuring chefs not known for making tacos -- such as Brian Luscher of Dallas' the Grape and Restaurant Avas Randall Copeland -- competing to see who can create the greatest taco.
For info, contact Ralat-Maldonado at 917-854-2917 or ralatmaldonado@gmail.com or Brandon Castillo at 972-898-9227 or brandon@deepellumaket.com. You can also find updates on the festival's Facebook and Twitter feeds (in this case, "feed" kinda has multiple meanings, doesn't it?).
