Next week, Fort Worth Weekly will hold its Third Annual Visionary Awards at Artspace 111 (111 Hampton Street in downtown Fort Worth). Three $500 cash awards will be presented to three up-and-coming Fort Worth artists, whose names will be announced at the awards.
Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. is crafting a beer for the Weekly and the awards called, sensibly enough, Visionary Brew. Now the Weekly is looking for a visionary to design the label.
"Were calling on all artists to submit original pieces of previously unpublished artwork suitable for public consumption (no porn, no violence, no profanity) to appear on every bottle of Visionary Brew," says the Weekly's call for entries. "Artists, keep in mind that Rahrs logo and the Visionary Awards logo (the Egyptian eye with the FW") also will appear on the label and will be added by Rahr during the final stages of production you do not need to incorporate the logos into your design."
There are a whole bunch of other details you can read here, but the key things are that submissions are free; the deadline is March 19; and submissions may be made by e-mailing a PDF or jpeg of your original, previously unpublished artwork to Weekly Associate Editor Anthony Mariani at email@example.com. "Any two-dimensional medium is acceptable, and, artists, understand that your entry will be reduced to the size of a beer-bottle label. Dont paint a mural on the side of our office building and expect us to be amused," the call for entries says.
The Visionary Awards take place from 6 to 9 p.m. March 21 at Artspace. For ticket info, go here. And for a lengthy disclaimer -- OK, it's a big paragraph, it's not like an Apple user agreement or anything like that -- go here and scroll down.
