It is already the time of year to plan for St. Patrick's Day, and whether you are of Irish decent or just in it for the green beer, the time has come to find a green shirt (likely the same one you wore about this time last year and have not put on since), and plan where to enjoy one of the bigger party days of the year. Here is a random sampling of hot spots to hit in DFW:
The Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade has been officially renamed the Dallas St. Patrick's Parade & Festival. It is Sat. March 16th and is presented by AXS TV, a Mark Cuban company. The event begins at 11 a.m. and is far and away the biggest in North Texas as the crowd will easily top 100,000.
Poag Mahone's Irish Pub's 6th Annual St. Patrick's Day Madness is Saturday and Sunday. The two-day bash -- the largest in Fort Worth -- features Holy Moly, Poo Live Crew, Sally Majestic, Fish Fry Bingo, Foxtrot Uniform, Pablo & the Hemphill 7, Will Callers, We the Sea Lions, Kevin Aldridge and Better Than Bacon performing.
The Top Rung Foundation's 1st Annual St. Patrick's Party benefiting the kids at Dallas Can is Friday March 15 at Hotel ZaZa in Uptown. The party will feature DJ Jen Miller, pots of gold, cocktails, 'light up' money glasses and rings and a 'real' Leprechaun. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. with all of the net proceeds going to Dallas Can. Further information available on the event's Facebook page.
Ringo's Pub Annual St. Patrick's Day Block Party will be one of the bigger events in DFW as the popular sports talk duo Ben and Skin (Ben Rogers and Jeff 'Skin' Wade) will be hanging out and introducing bands that include Blue Finger Disco, Pepper Theft and Bowling for Soup.
St. Patrick's Day 2013 at McFadden's Addison features three days of green beer, Irish car bombs, Leprechauns, bagpipers, live bands, DJ's, an indoor and outdoor party and their world-famous green bikini competition with $1,000 cash prize. McFadden's will open at 7 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday for "Kegs & Eggs." The bikini contest is Saturday and Sunday; they are giving away a trip to Ireland.
Greenspan & Lemon's St. Patrick's Day Parade Party, sponsored by Dos Equis XX, at the CVS parking lot on the corner of Lovers and Greenville, begins at 9 a.m. on March 16th. The parking lot is converted into a huge dance party by Paul Lemon and DJ Michael Greenspan and will be packed. Parking is limited, so it is advised to take the DART, which has a drop off at the CVS.
The 1st Annual St. Patty's Day party at Reservoir, will see the hottest spot in Fort Worth is turned into a huge block party. There will be live music by Melow Nation and The Adrian Garza Band, with DJs going all day and night long. DJ D-Roz, DJ Mark McEuen, and DJ Traxx will be providing all the sounds from the booth. Drink specials include $3 green beer and $6 Irish Car Bombs.
J. Gilligan's Bar & Grill in Arlington is always a big spot for St. Patrick's Day and this year will be no different. They will be having their block-long party on Saturday with live music all day from the Sting Rays, Brandon Steadman, Larry Heath & Hill City, Morning People, Bag Pipes and others.
The St. Patrick's Day concert featuring Snoop Dogg is March 16th, immediately after the Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade, in Energy Square at the corner of Greenville Ave. & University Blvd. The show is put on by the Dallas Observer and House of Blues. Tickets are available here.
The 2nd Annual St. Patty's Day party at the Pour House on West 7th in Fort Worth is Sunday March 17th and will feature the Dick Beldings performing on the Main Stage and drink specials, including $5 Irish car bombs & $3 green beer pints.
Brownstone Kitchen + Bar in the West 7th corridor is hosting its St. Patrick's Day Celebration on Saturday. Specials include $4 Green Beer, $4 Jameson and $4 Irish Car Bombs and there will be a DJ from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. As expected, green attire is encouraged.
The Granada Theater and Sundown at Granada are hosting after-parties following the big parade on Greenville on Saturday. The Sundown parking lot and rooftop patio will be one big party running from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Live music will go until 2 a.m. The Granada Theater will have a party on its patio, featuring photos with the Granada Leprechaun, live music. On the menu: beer, brisket and veggie tacos and brisket sandwiches.
As with every other beer-themed holiday, Twin Peaks will be a fun spot to congregate. Among the highlights for their Lucky Charms weekend will be the beautiful Twin Peaks girls clad in green rather than the traditional red tops. Twin Peaks has six locations throughout DFW.
The Baker St. Pub & Grill on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth will have its annual St. Patrick's bash by expanding its patio all the way out to the big fountain and green beer, Lucky Charm drinks, along with corned beef and cabbage and Welsh rarebit turkey sandwiches, will be served all weekend. Saturday will kick off with a happy hour patio band followed by a DJ on the patio till midnight. Poo Live Crew will be taking the stage inside at 10 p.m.
Frankie's Sports Bar & Grill is the spot for the Fake St. Paddy's Day party from March 8-17th, for those who are not Irish but still want to partake in the big day. Drink specials include $3 pints of green Miller Lite and $8 Irish Trash Cans. Frankie's has locations in Uptown, Lewisville and Sundance Square.
The Grand Prairie AirHogs are hosting their 5th Annual “St. Patty O’Party” on Friday, March 15th at QuikTrip Ballpark. Gates to the ballpark open at 10 a.m. and the celebration goes until 7 p.m. The free party features fast-pitch games, a dunk tank, $1 hot dogs, hamburgers and of course green beer, live music, a chance to run the bases, and vendor booths.
Sherlock's Baker St. Pub & Grill at Lincoln Square in north Arlington will have the Eat, Drink & Be Irish St. Patrick's Weekend Festival. A 100-foot tent and patio party area will be constructed in front of the building and feature happy hour drink specials, live music, and they'll be giving away tickets to the sold out Maroon 5 concert on March 21 at American Airlines Center.
Bar Louie on West 7th in Fort Worth is hosting its Kegs & Eggs party for St. Patrick's Day. There will be a breakfast buffet from 7-11 a.m., $3 green beer, $5 Irish whiskey and live entertainment. The party is Saturday and Sunday and costs $10 per day.
The new Dallas hot spot LEVU is the spot for the Get Lucky this St. Patrick's Night party with a Guest DJ set by Red Sean.
The Idle Rich Pub in Uptown is hosting its annual St. Patrick's Day Parking Lot Party on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. with Irish beer, Irish food and Irish whiskey all day. Live music by the Beatles tribute band Hard Night's Day and the Kildares.
