February sweeps: Fox 4 dominates mornings; Channel 8, CBS 11 score wins

Posted 3:42pm on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013

In February sweeps races, several DFW stations had something to brag about, with KDFW/Channel 4 pulling away from the pack in what was once a tight morning race, and tight battles in other time slots.

Fox-4's Good Day dominated the 4:30-7 a.m. race in both overall ratings and the advertiser-friendly 25- to 54-year-old demographic, winning the 4:30 a.m. half-hour and the 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. hours across the board in what had typically been a seesaw battle in recent sweeps periods. Good Day, which continues from 7 to 9 a.m., kept up its years-long streak of beating national shows in that time period.

Other races were closer -- near-ties, in some cases. WFAA/Channel 8 barely edged out KXAS/Channel 5 to win in overall viewers at 5 p.m., although KUVN/Channel 23 won in the 25-54 bracket in that time slot, edging out Fox 4.

At 6 p.m., KTVT/Channel 11 took first in overall viewers, but was fourth out of four in the 25-54 race, which Fox-4 won.

Channel 8 beat CBS 11 in overall viewers in a very tight 10 p.m. race, and scored a more convincing victory in the 25-54 bracket in that time slot.

Here's a look at races involving four or more stations. All numbers are estimated averages from Nielsen Media Research for Jan. 31-Feb. 27.
