DFW food truck events for March

The first sign of spring is a full schedule of food truck events. The trucks are coming out of winter hibernation and working at full capacity again, and starting March 1 and going through mid-summer, there will be events almost every week.

Friday, March 1, Garland will see its first food truck event at Naaman Forest High. From 6- 8 p.m., Rock & Roll Tacos, Nammi, and Rockstar Bakeshop will be serving as part of NFHS Rachel's Challenge.

Saturday, March 2 will be a very busy day, with food trucks at several events.

White Rock Local Market: Starting at 8 a.m., five trucks will be at White Rock Local Market, for the first day of their 2013 season at 9150 Garland Road in Dallas for Food Truck Day. Ruthie's, Simply Dosa, The Lab Food Truck, Tin Star Taco Taxi and The Bacon Lover's Truck will be serving until 1 p.m.

At 8:30 a.m., the JJ Pearce/Richardson High 5K and Food Truck Festival kicks off. Runners of the 5K admission get free admission to the food truck area; for non-participants, there is a $5 entrance fee. The event will be at Eagle Stadium, 1250 West Beltline Road in Richardson. Taco Party, The Mobile Stand, Hypnotic Donuts, Ruthie's, Rockstar Bakeshop will all join Little Greek Truck, making its DFW debut at this event.

At 11 a.m., Dallas' Travis Academy is hosting a Foodie Truck Fest to benefit their band, which is raising money for a trip to Disney World. The festival will be at 3001 McKinney Ave in Uptown Dallas. The Butcher's Son, The Mobile Stand, The Gastro Bomber, Lucky Ducky Dogs, Oink & Moo BBQ and Cup-Cakin will all be serving until 4 p.m. There is a $5 gate fee for this event.

At 4 p.m., Carrollton will hold its first food truck event with Food Truckin' for a Cause. The $5 gate fee goes to fight colorectal cancer. Serving will be Ruthie's Spanish Lunchbox, Bombay Street Food, Cajun Tailgators, Rock & Roll Tacos, Easy Slider, Tin Star Tacos, Pompeii, My Cupcake Garden and Wound Up! Cafe. Trucks will be serving until 9 p.m. on the square in Old Town Carrollton.

On Saturday March 2 and Sunday March 3, food trucks will be doing demos and offering taste tests at the Dallas Home & Garden Show at Dallas Market Hall. The schedule for the demos and ticket information can be found on the show's website.

On March 5, Tasty Tuesday returns to Sprouts at 11722 Marsh Lane in Dallas. Tutta's Pizza, Pompeii, Rock & Roll Tacos, Three Lions, Cajun Tailgators, The Gastro Bomber, the Mobile Stand and Rockstar Bakeshop will all be serving from 5-8 p.m.

March 7 marks the return to The Parking Lot. This monthly event, held in the parking lot of Sprout's Grocery at 1800 Henderson in Dallas has Rock & Roll Tacos, Yellow Belly, The Gastro Bomber, Pompeii, Three Lions, the Mobile Stand, Easy Slider and Cajun Tailgators serving from 5-8 p.m.

March 13 kicks off the first of the once-a-month Food Truck Days at the National Cowgirl Museum in Fort Worth. A variety of trucks will be at the museum from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. serving.

March 23 is the third annual W.T. White Street Food Festival. Food trucks, along with many vendors will be there from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free and the festival will be at W.T. White High School in Dallas, 4505 Ridgeside Drive.

Many of the weekly events are slowly picking back up. For March, food trucks continue to be at Sigel's, 5757 Greenville Avenue on Wednesday and Friday nights. Along with the rotation of trucks each of these nights, Sigel's usually has some beverage tastings inside the store.

And as always, the Fort Worth parks are the place to be in Tarrant County.

Fort Worth Food Truck Park is open on Wednesday nights for dinner and Thursdays - Sundays for lunch and dinner at 2509 Weisenberger Dr. in Fort Worth. You can find their schedule of trucks at www.fwfoodpark.com.

Clear Fork Park is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Clear Fork is right on the Trinity Trail, at 1541 Merrimac Circle in Fort Worth. You can find their schedule of trucks at www.clearforkfoodpark.com.

Also, mark your calendar for some exciting April events. April 20 will be the second Downtown Frisco StrEATs Festival. You can get more information about this event on their Facebook page.
