Music minute: Take a triple shot of live music at the Live Oak

Posted 6:53pm on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013

The Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge will play host to a triple shot of local rock at 9 p.m. Friday. Dallas' Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights will headline, with support from the Hanna Barbarians and the Southern Renaissance. Tickets for the all-ages show are $13, and available via spunetickets.com.

As I said recently on Twitter, the Quaker City Night Hawks' new LP Honcho "simultaneously makes you wanna shake your hips, get in a fist-fight and slug a shot of the strongest whiskey you can find." That's just the kind of reaction these hard-working rockers inspire. Join the Fort Worth foursome -- Sam Anderson, David Matsler, Matt Mabe and Patrick Adams -- at the Magnolia Motor Lounge at 8 p.m. Friday to celebrate the release of its sophomore effort. Austin's Uncle Lucius will join them on the bill. Admission to the all-ages show is $15, including a copy of the album, and $10 without.
