Dallas This was going to be a reasoned, thoughtful assessment of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way Ball" tour.
But that was before the 26-year-old pop star "birthed" herself out of a giant, inflatable vagina Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. I figured, at that point, applying any sort of linear thought to what was unfolding before me was an exercise in futility.
The singer-songwriter born Stefani Germanotta piled one eye-popping set piece on top of another during her two hour-plus set, delighting the faithful gathered before her (and decked out in all manner of outrageous costume).
Driving home the message that we're all unique and that's something to be celebrated, Lady Gaga raced through the hits, offered up some visuals designed to shock even as they (sort of) entertained, and generally had her Little Monsters aping her every move. In light of the evening's madness, I offer my real-time thoughts, first aired via Twitter and presented here for your consideration. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what the meat couch was all about.
