Toro y Moi at Trees
His parents know him as Chazwick Bundick -- which itself sounds like a stage name -- but thousands of "chillwave" aficionados know the South Carolina native better as Toro y Moi, the buzzy electronica act that has earned critical plaudits for his funky sonic atmospherics. Returning to North Texas in support of his third and just-released album, Anything in Return, Bundick will bring the hipsters out in droves for this, one of his bigger shows yet in the area. With Wild Belle and Dog Bite.
7 p.m. Friday. Trees, Dallas. Sold out.
Shannon McNally and Amy LaVere at Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge
As it approaches its first anniversary, the Live Oak appears to have finally found a formula (and a booking agency) that works for it. While Fort Worth has no shortage of small spaces for musicians to perform, it does have a dearth of acoustically inviting listening rooms (save for McDavid Studio). But the Live Oak has aggressively (and successfully) pursued singer-songwriters like Long Island native Shannon McNally and Memphis' Amy LaVere, who will bring their Chasing the Ghost project to town this week. With the Fox and the Bird.
9 p.m. Thursday. Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge, Fort Worth. $10.
