Weekend chef: Super Bowl recipes to cheer for

Super Bowl Sunday comes once a year, but, lucky for you, I grill up delicious and gut-busting grub all year long. So, without further ado (that means no more messin' around), here are 10 of my favorite recipes that'll score big with your guests on gameday.

  • Grilled pizza with Rahr crust

    Don't you dare order from Domino's or Papa John's on Super Sunday. It'll take forever and you'll be shamed by your guests for your lack of originality. Try this pizza, with beer crust, and you'll be the MVP.

  • Perfectly cooked BBQ chicken

    Far too many grillmasters have been undone by burnt or dried-out chicken. We won't let that happen to you -- not on Super Bowl Sunday with a hungry crowd in the TV room.

    If you don't want to get too fancy, hot dogs are a surefire Super Bowl staple. But why not call an audible and grill them in this spiral-cut style. It looks cool, and as I'll explain, they actually taste better.

  • Sticky Chinese chicken wings

    Another must for game day, chicken wings will disappear off the plate when they are bathed in this sweet and spicy sauce.

  • Ghost pepper hot wings

    For the extreme eaters at your party, try turning up the heat on your wings with a ghost pepper salsa. Grown in India, ghost peppers are about 400 times hotter than Tabasco, so you might want to keep the fire extinguisher handy.

  • Texas red chili

    Chili is a classic dish for Super Bowl parties, and this version is a Cowtown original, thanks to Pendery's famous chili powder. And remember: Real Texans don't put beans in their chili.

    Nothing brings out your inner-Fred Flintstone like eating a giant turkey leg. And during the game, when your team scores, wave the gnawed leg in the air and do a stone-age celebration dance. It'll make Ray Lewis jealous.
