Jane McGarry to contribute to 'Good Morning Texas'

Posted 6:13pm on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013

We've been wondering (and asking, and asking) about what's up with Jane McGarry almost since she left KXAS/Channel 5 last summer after more than 30 years with the station, more than 20 of them as one of its top anchors.

Now we know -- WFAA/Channel 8 just sent a release announcing that McGarry will present a series of "Starting Over" segments for Good Morning Texas, Channel 8's 9 a.m. talk/variety show.

The segments (full title, "Starting Over With Jane McGarry") will air over a five-week period beginning Jan. 24.

We have a message out to McGarry, whose stories "will focus on a variety of subjects, all involving local people who have experienced significant changes in their lives, often due to unforeseen circumstances." Per the release, this could range from a soldier's parents who have lost their son or daughter to someone who is returning to school for career training.

Interestingly, Channel 8 is the station that broke the news about McGarry's DWI arrest last May. She pleaded no contest to the charge around the same time she announced her departure from KXAS via her Facebook page.

Hope to have more on this soon. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: McGarry just posted a brief promo video on Facebook.
